In a remarkable showcase of talent and preparation, Jinan University has emerged as a leader in the 2nd National College Student Career Planning Competition held recently. The final round of the Guangdong Provincial Split, hosted at Zhuhai University of Science and Technology on March 8, saw our students excel by winning 5 gold and 1 silver awards. This accomplishment leads the province in terms of the number of gold awards, further solidifying Jinan University’s reputation for excellence in student career development.

The competition featured 154 contestants vying for prestigious awards in three key tracks: growth, undergraduate employment, and graduate employment. Jinan University’s full quota of 6 contestants represented the institution in the finals, and they successfully captured a significant share of the podium. Vice President Zhang Xiaoxin attended to support and observe the competitors, engaging in warm discussions and taking group photos with both students and supervising teachers.

Organized by the Education Department of Guangdong Province and Zhuhai University of Science and Technology, the competition centered on the theme “Building Dreams, Youthful Aspirations in All Directions, Planning to Sail and Lead the Future.” It successfully attracted participation from 1.1955 million college students across 163 universities in the province, highlighting the competitive nature of this event.

The success of Jinan University in this prestigious competition is not merely a stroke of luck but a reflection of the institution's deep commitment to career education and guidance for its students. The university proactively recommends candidates for such competitions and places a premium on career planning as a key component of student development.

With 15 contestants recommended for the provincial competition, Jinan University ranked among the top in similar universities, showcasing the effectiveness of its career preparation programs. Out of these recommendations, the six contestants made it to the finals, securing 5 gold and 1 silver award, underscoring the university’s leadership in fostering employable graduates.

Jinan University has cultivated a vibrant career culture through various initiatives. The university organizes activities such as career experience weeks, specialized training workshops, and comprehensive employment events that have engaged nearly 8,000 students from 41 training units. These initiatives create a rich atmosphere conducive to career education and practical learning, ensuring students are well-prepared for the workforce.

Moreover, the university has embraced a “school-enterprise collaboration” model, integrating competition experiences with real workplace requirements. This approach involves alumni, co-construction units, and executives from key employers in the evaluation process, providing students with invaluable insights and networking opportunities. By inviting industry experts for consultation and guidance, Jinan University enhances students’ readiness for career challenges while nurturing a sense of patriotism and commitment to high-quality employment.
